A Message from the Physician
Hello and welcome! Thank you for visiting our site, and taking the time to find out more about us. I’m Dr. Prakash Arumugam. I started this practice with a commitment to delivering quality healthcare that truly matters. My goal is to ensure each patient receives the time, attention, and personalized care they deserve from a dedicated physician.
I've spent most of my life in Ohio. I graduated with honors and distinction in Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University and went on to complete my MD and PhD at the Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. My PhD is in Biomedical sciences, and my research was focused on studying how plaques can form in the blood vessels that lead to heart disease.
Following my residency, I served as a hospital physician in rural West Virginia, where I developed self-reliance in an environment with limited resources and specialty services. I believe that quality care promotes lasting wellness. Patients face a cycle of readmissions to the hospital stemming from the lack of true understanding of their health, treatment plans, and numerous unanswered questions. Despite incredible medical advances, there is a clear breakdown in the quality of care patients receive today. There is too much variability in training of providers, rushed clinic visits, missed diagnoses, and gaps in follow-up care. I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact that extended visits, detailed chart reviews, thorough physical exams, and patient education can have in a patient's wellbeing.
This practice was founded to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives through high-quality, patient-centered care. Through the quality care model at Aurora Health and Wellness, I am committed to helping patients achieve a healthier future.
